One of the two legislative seats representing Ector County in the Texas Legislature will see a new face in Kevin Sparks after the Trump-backed Republican managed to secure enough votes to avoid a runoff with his closest challenger, Tim Reid.

Meanwhile, in the Texas House of Representatives Race, incumbent Brooks Landgraf swept the election against challenger Casey Gray, securing another term representing the West Texas-based District 81.

Sparks faced three challengers, including Tim Reid, Stormy Bradley, and Jesse Quackenbush.

According to the Texas Secretary of State, Sparks secured 46,132 votes, or 54.84%, with his closest challenger Reid coming in at 19,165 or 22.78%.

With the HD-81 race, Landgraf swept the race with 10,229 votes, or 79.95%, to Gray’s 2565 or 20.05%.

Neither candidate will face a democrat challenger in November.
