Local business owner Freddy Redmon announced his candidacy in the 2022 March Republican Primary Election for the office of Ector County Justice of the Peace in Precinct 3.
Redmon, who is described as a native West Texan, grew up in Monahans, graduated from law enforcement academy in 1999, and has worked in law enforcement communications and jail settings for 10 years.
Moving to Odessa in 2010, Redmon has run a property management company and opened a successful private security business that serves the entire Permian Basin.
“I have always found public service to be my calling and I would love the opportunity to serve the residents of Ector County Precinct 3 as their Justice of the Peace,” Redmon wrote in a press release.
“I know I will bring an ethical, fair, and trustworthy mindset to the court. I feel with my business experience, I will bring more efficiency to the office, clearing more cases and potentially lower costs to the county.”
Redmon joins two other candidates running for the open seat, including Earl Graham and Bill Bowen in the Republican Primary.
Long-time incumbent JP Woody Kupper did not file for re-election.
Early voting begins February 14.
