Cynthia Moreno has declared her candidacy in the March 2022 Republican Primary Election for the office of Ector County Justice of the Peace (JP) in precinct two, challenging incumbent Judge Missi Walden for the office.

According to a press release, Moreno is a lifelong Odessan and attended both Odessa College and Midland College.

Moreno has worked in law firms since the age of 18 and has been a legal assistant to attorney Michael McLeaish for the last 32 years. The release details that Moreno has a paralegal background in criminal defense law, civil litigation, personal injury, family law, and bankruptcy issues.

The release goes on to detail that Moreno is hoping to make improvements to the office by making it self-sustaining and to make herself available to the local legal community.

“I hope to promote trust, be tough on crime, resolve issues, make changes and fulfill the duties of this office,” Moreno is quoting saying.

“[P]eople should trust our elected officials and I intend to earn their trust by fulfilling my duties with honesty, integrity, and with the hope of enhancing the credibility of this office.”

Moreno plans to hold a campaign announcement on Thursday, December 2, beginning at 3:00 PM at the Ector County Courthouse Annex in room 118.

Filing for the March 1, 2022 primary election is presently underway and ends December 13.
